Six28 House Bed & Breakfast | About

We are Holly & Keith Stringer, live-in hosts and owners of Six28 House Bed & Breakfast.

Originally from the Hudson Valley area of upstate New York, we settled in Garner, North Carolina in 1988. When planning for "semi-retirement", Keith went back to college at age 50, earning his culinary/hospitality management degree with a minor in baking and pastry arts. Holly, a creative and resourceful "Jill of all trades", has had a long career as an administrative assistant in event planning and advertising. In 2017, while exploring the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we quickly fell in love with the quaint, historic little town of Elkin and all it had to offer. We found this gem of a house in 2018 and opened Six28 House Bed and Breakfast in October of 2021 . We are extremely excited to share this grand home with you and provide you with great food and hospitality, and a cozy place to relax and recharge. In our downtime, we enjoy visiting local vineyards, hiking the many area trails, and of course, special time spent with our beautiful family and friends.

Built in 1923

Set in a residential neighborhood, the Six28 House is located just 3/4 of a mile from downtown Elkin, NC. This stately, traditional home with lots of character, boasts many of its original features along with an inviting wrap-around porch which welcomes all to sit back, relax and stay a while. Enter the home into a spacious foyer with high ceilings, pinewood floors, craftsman style trim and beautiful French doors that open into the common areas of the home. While most of the original features remain, it has been functionally updated while still maintaining its charm of days gone by.
